these are awesome worshops

Spend the day with artist and teacher Valerie Dearing discovering the Japanese art of indigo dying.  We will use textured molds, to wrap and bind the fabric, then imprint patterns onto cotton fabric. We dip scarves, colored fabrics, t-shirts, napkins etc into the indigo dye several times to deepen the color.  All dye supplies will be provided plus two blank scarves.  If you wish, you may supplement the supplied materials with your own fabric choices for example; pillowcases or 100% cotton shirts. No previous experience needed.
There will be a break for lunch, please bring your own.

Spend the day with artist and teacher Ellen Spring learning a twist on the ancient fiber art of felting. We will create two small scarves using a wet felting technique that laminates layers of merino wool with delicate silks resulting in a lightweight, richly textured wearable work of art!
All supplies of colorful wool and silk are provided. If you wish, you may supplement these supplies with your own scraps of lightweight chiffon-type silk to re-purpose.
